Growing tips for USDA Zone 9b: Plant directly in moist soil. Keep in moist soil and shade until established and growing. Enjoys frequent watering and direct sunlight. Up pot when about 6 inches tall. Plant in ground or large container when about 3 ft tall. Benefits from cooler weather. Do not let it freeze. If leaves are yellowing, provide quality, organic fertilizer (granules once per quarter; foliage spray every 2 weeks for 1 month or until new leaves are solid green).
About the mother fruit: Medium-sized, bright yellow USDA organic labeled fruit. Bright yellow, juicy and tart pulp with several mature seeds.
About our home-grown plants: Currently approximately 3 feet tall at 3 years old, started and still grown in terracotta pots. Our 2 trees have produced bark, thorns, and dark green leaves. They have branched some and have not been pruned. Photos show saplings needing nutrients, and their more mature current stage as of the summer of 2025 on a quarterly feeding schedule.
